These paintings are from the mid 1980’s - 2016.
“These paintings are my interpretation of what I see in nature or what I would like to see. They are unique plant forms created by my imagination. I carefully work and rework the colors, shadings, depth and forms.
The process of creating a new painting is laborious, challenging, sometimes depressing, but at the completion - satisfaction.”
This was Frank's final painting.
These large stretched-canvas paintings are from 1975-1981
“I returned to the figure and did a series of silkscreens which then led to shaped canvases of figures at one and a half life size. These paintings were extremely difficult to produce and took months just to fabricate the stretchers and stretch the canvas.
At this same time, I was doing portraits which are also shaped, and this led to my later paintings on shaped masonite.”
From 1975, editions of 80. 22x30
